Chennai: Despite the bitterness over post poll realignment, former chief minister M K Stalin on Friday extended birthday greetings to Leader of the Opposition in Parliament Rahul Gandhi. Thanking him, Gandhi called upon Stalin to `wage a war together’ to defend Constitution of India.“Birthday greetings to Honourable Leader of Opposition Thiru Rahul Gandhi. Wishing you good health and happiness,’’ Stalin said in his X post. In response, Rahul said, “Our shared resolve to defend the idea of India, our Constitution, and federalism will continue to guide us. This is the fight for the very soul of our democracy, and we will wage it together until we win.”Meanwhile, chief minister C Joseph Vijay too wished Rahul and got a similar response from the Congress leader. “Warm birthday wishes to my dear brother, Thiru. Rahul Gandhi. I wish you good health and a long life as you continue to raise your voice for the nation’s progress, the preservation of democratic values and the welfare of people from all walks of life. May all your endeavours meet with success and may you continue to serve with distinction in public life,’’ he said.Thanking Vijay, Rahul said, “We remain united in our commitment to the Constitution and to strengthening our democracy – and together, we will keep working for the welfare, dignity, and aspirations of the people of Tamil Nadu.’’
