Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Friday said after going through the massive election-related corruption by the BJP in West Bengal, it was clear to him that the issue was no longer about securing polls, but it was now about saving the country, which is in the wrong hands.“The crucial decisive moment has come where we all will have to unite to defeat the negative destructive forces which are against our country’s fundamental spirit. We must join hands to pick up the tricolour to save our country and pave away for a new freedom,” Akhilesh said in a statement. He said the BJP and their ‘mukhbir sangi-sathi (informer associates)’ were against the country before the freedom struggle and have not changed thereafter. The former UP CM said the country was presently in the hands of people who are against the Constitution, democracy, reservation, equality, justice, unity and integrity.“These are the people who are opposed to amity, harmony and brotherhood in society and do not believe in respecting the honour of women, the deprived and the exploited. They don’t want to give the marginalised and the PDA their rights,” Akhilesh said.He further said: “The people of the country will have to understand that those who are destroying the atmosphere of unity and peace in India are working as agents of whom? Who are the people who talk about swadeshi but bring funds from abroad? Why are they not sharing the details on the utilisation of donations collected from the people in the name of Covid? Why do they remain unregistered and underground?”The former UP CM said people who have captured the education system to weaken the intellectual spirit and strength of the country and have conspired to keep the common man’s children uneducated by shutting govt schools need to be identified.Akhilesh added that the BJP and its associates were determined to administer splits in political parties which do not agree to align with them and destroy the socio-political structure which forms the very foundation of a vibrant democracy.“It was time for people from all walks of life to join hands as a unit and walk the talk to preserve country’s unity and integrity,” he said.
