Hisar: In a major anti-drug crackdown, Fatehabad police arrested two alleged interstate traffickers, including a woman, with over 13 kg opium worth Rs 70 lakh, and separately froze Rs 30 lakh property linked to drug proceeds.Addressing a news conference on Tuesday, ASP Divyanshi Singla said acting on a tip-off, a CIA Ratia team intercepted a car near Dhangar bridge on NH-9 and apprehended the occupants — Ishwar Lal Patidar of Neemuch district in Madhya Pradesh and Sona Prajapati of Raisen district in Madhya Pradesh. While searching the vehicle, police allegedly recovered 13.06 kg of opium worth nearly Rs 70 lakh.Police suspect that the accused were transporting the contraband from Madhya Pradesh for supply across Haryana and Punjab. The vehicle used in the operation was also seized. Investigators said the car carried stickers bearing the name of a newspaper publication on both the front and rear windscreens. A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Sadar Fatehabad police station.Preliminary investigation has also indicated that the main accused was previously booked under the NDPS Act in Punjab’s Bathinda district.Cops seize property worth Rs 30L In a separate action, police froze residential property worth nearly Rs 30 lakh belonging to an alleged drug trafficker, Suresh alias Shesha, from Tohana under provisions of the NDPS Act. Officials said the move was part of a strategy aimed at dismantling the financial backbone of narcotics networks.
