We’re pleased to report that team Fashionista survived another New York Fashion Week filled with busy show days, breaking news and plenty of newfound styling inspiration. Though the Spring 2027 season is far from over (the Paris crowd is just getting started), we’re running back the fashion-forward pieces that carried us through our hectic September schedules.
This month, we celebrated our first glimpses of fall by breaking out our transitional wardrobes, including a colorful barn jacket, a sheer lavender sweater, an asymmetrical long-sleeve top and a pair of wide-leg vintage-inspired jeans. In the spirit of schlepping, handbags were our favorite September accessories. We reached for a spacious pebbled leather tote (with room for a laptop!), a petite suede bucket bag and a cheetah-print pony hair purse.

The skirt’s asymmetrical handkerchief hem also adds plenty of movement to the matching set. Nike UO Women’s Air Rift Sneaker, $125, available here: “I have to admit, I was one of those people who always side-eyed camel-toe shoes. I couldn’t imagine they’d be comfortable to wear, and I truly didn’t understand all the hype. Needless to say, I can admit when I’m wrong: I’m in love with these split-toe Nike sneakers. The air-cushioned foam insole makes them easy to walk in, and the camel-toe design genuinely doesn’t bother me in the slightest. Fortunately, I was formally introduced to Arc’teryx’s quality gear. After taking it on a test run in Cold Spring, NY, a few weeks ago, I can safely say the bag packs more than you’d expect. Thanks to the slim fit and a chest buckle, the weight is evenly distributed; no matter how heavy your pack gets, it feels almost weightless. It’s full of animal prints, fringe, stripes and plaid, but my favorite print is the pink-and-brown polka dot, which comes in a vintage-inspired dress and blouse. I can’t decide which I like more, but the two-piece mesh dress is especially wearable.” —Elizabeth

So, ahead of NYFW, I came across an ideal in-between carryall option: With the bucket shape, it’s easy to see and throw things inside as I accumulate them throughout the day. I love the vintage-inspired wash, which gives all of my outfits a relaxed, lived-in feel. It delivers a slightly slouchy look when worn with sneakers, and a crisp hemline with boots. Even though low-rise waists are making the rounds on the runways, you can pry these high-rise jeans from my cold, dead hands.” —Catie
