CHENNAI: The Chennai Central Crime Branch (CCB) police on Tuesday conducted searches in five locations, including the houses of former Tamil Nadu school education minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi’s aides, as part of a probe into an alleged fraud involving private school administrators.Police had registered a case following complaints that money was collected from private school managements on the promise of obtaining govt recognition and various statutory approvals for their institutions.On Sept 16, CCB personnel searched houses and offices in Chennai and Trichy belonging to Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and his aides Valadi Karthik, Arun Prakash and Prakash. Documents and electronic devices were seized during those searches and are being examined as part of the investigation.Police had also searched houses and shops in Kallakurichi belonging to Saravanan, Ramesh and Gokulakrishnan, relatives of absconding accused Muthukumar, who is suspected of facilitating the collection of money from private school administrators. More than 30 documents were seized during those searches.Continuing the investigation, CCB personnel on Tuesday searched houses at Saligramam, Kodambakkam, Choolaimedu, Poonamallee and Navalur belonging to P T Arasakumar, Muthukumar’s relative and aides of Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi.Police said they seized 44 documents and one laptop linked to the case during the searches. The investigation is continuing.
