Times News NetworkKanpur: A man was seriously injured after being shot at by his grandson twice over a monetary dispute at an ashram near Ratanpur village in Jahanganj police station area in Farrukhabad district on Sunday evening.One bullet struck Gajendra Singh (65) in the abdomen near his waist. As he ran towards a room, the assailant allegedly fired again from behind, hitting him near the shoulder, with the bullet travelling towards his chest.Villagers rushed to the ashram after hearing gunshots, but the accused fled while brandishing a country-made pistol. Constable Vikal Kumar and Gajendra’s grandson Shiva took him to Lohia Hospital.Gajendra told police that he had been ill for 1.5 years and had sold a field a few months ago to fund his treatment. He alleged that his grandson wanted to forcibly take the sale proceeds and shot him twice after he refused to hand over the money on Sunday evening.Emergency in-charge Dr Abhishek Chaturvedi referred Gajendra elsewhere because of his serious condition. Police recorded his statement at the hospital.
