Kanpur: District magistrate Mahendra Singh Tanwar on Sunday chaired a meeting regarding the development of parking, public transport and passenger facilities around Mandhana Railway Station.The DM constituted a joint committee of the Railway, NHAI and Traffic Department under the chairmanship of block development officer Kalyanpur Sandeep Kumar (IAS).He instructed the committee to conduct a joint survey of the Mandhana area on Sunday, identify suitable places for parking and traffic arrangements, and submit a report so that necessary arrangements can be developed in a time-bound manner in accordance with passenger convenience.Railway officials informed the meeting that construction of the elevated corridor from Kanpur Anwarganj to Mandhana (CPA-MDA) is expected to begin potentially from Nov/Dec 2026.After completion of the project, Mandhana Railway Station is likely to become the final terminal station of this rail section.The district magistrate directed that action be taken to identify suitable spaces available outside Mandhana Railway Station and develop an organized parking facility. He also directed the concerned departments to ensure necessary coordinated action to provide smooth public transport facilities from the station to Kanpur Nagar and other major areas for the convenience of passengers.Railway officials informed the meeting that two villages of Tehsil Bilhaur and 13 villages of Tehsil Sadar in the district are included in the concerned matter. In this regard, the railway has corresponded with both tehsils. The DM directed both sub-divisional magistrates to submit a detailed status report of the concerned matter by Monday.The DM also directed appropriate waste management arrangements between Kalyanpur and Rawatpur Railway Station. He directed the concerned zonal officer to survey the area and submit a report within two days regarding necessary arrangements.Chief development officer Abhinav J. Jain, municipal commissioner Arpit Upadhyay, DCP Traffic, additional district magistrate city Saurabh Singh, PD NHAI and concerned railway officials were present in the meeting.
