Srinagar, Feb 24: President of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, Farooq Abdullah, and Vice President and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday led party leaders and workers in offering floral tributes and Fatiha at the Mazar-e-Anwar of the party’s stalwart and former General Secretary, Sheikh Nazir Ahmad, on his 11th death anniversary.
The leaders, along with party functionaries, legislators, Members of Parliament and office bearers, paid homage at the late leader’s resting place at the shrine complex of Hazrat Malik Sahib Shrine in Soura.
Among those present on the occasion were Party General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar; Additional General Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Choudhary Mohammad Ramzan; Advisor to the Chief Minister Nasir Aslam Wani; Chief Spokesperson Tanvir Sadiq; Provincial President Showkat Ahmad Mir; MLAs Salman Ali Sagar, Ali Mohammad Dar and Ahsan Pardesi; Political Advisor to the Vice President Mudassar Shahmiri; State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar; District President Srinagar Pir Afaq Ahmad; District President Baramulla Shahid Ali; District President Ganderbal Sheikh Giyas Ud Din; YNC Provincial President Mir Mushtaq, besides block presidents, members of the Youth National Conference (YNC), media cell representatives and other party functionaries.
In Jammu, Additional General Secretary Ajay Sadhotra and Provincial President Jammu Ratan Lal Gupta led the party’s Jammu unit in offering floral tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmad at a commemorative gathering held at SK Bhawan.
Similar commemorative functions were organised across Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh at district headquarters, where party leaders and workers paid rich tributes to Sheikh Nazir Ahmad’s life, legacy and contributions to the National Conference.
