Times News NetworkKanpur: The Krishi Vigyan Kendra Dilip Nagar, operating under the Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology Kanpur, raised awareness among farmers in village Ganeshpur of Maitha development block about the use of fermented organic manure under the (FOM) Fermented Organic Manure scheme to improve soil fertility and crop quality.Soil scientist Khalil Khan explained that this manure is a by-product obtained from biogas plants, which increases the quantity of organic matter in the soil without harming the environment. He said that the use of this organic manure improves soil health and increases its water-holding capacity. Farmers are motivated to reduce the indiscriminate use of urea and DAP and to move towards natural farming.Khan said that its regular use increases the quality of crop production, due to which farmers get a better price for their produce in the market. This manure is free from chemicals, due to which land pollution is prevented and the health of consumers remains better.Animal husbandry scientist Shashikant also provided information to the farmers on the topics of animal management and milk production. He emphasized the use of decomposed cow dung manure in the fields. More than 60 farmers were present in this program.
