Mysuru: Eight months after three farmers died in tiger attacks in Sargur taluk in Mysuru, a young farmer on Saturday claimed he was attacked by a tiger while working in a banana plantation near Nugu range of Bandipur Tiger Reserve.He has been shifted to a private hospital in Mysuru, where he is being treated for scratches on his back. He is out of danger.Foresters, however, claim they are combing the area to check the movement of a tiger to confirm the attack by the tiger. An officer said it is still not clear whether the animal is a leopard or a tiger. The incident happened during the noon hour in Mullur village. Kiran, a farmer, was attacked by a big cat from behind. Luckily, he escaped with injuries. He was then rushed to a hospital.It may be recalled that in Oct, three farmers were killed in separate tiger attacks, and one was left badly injured in another incident in Sargur.Bandipur director Nandish L said the injured farmer is being provided treatment, and foresters have launched a search for the big cat in the village.
