Kanpur: A 40-year-old farmer allegedly drowned in a pond while fleeing a stray bull in Purwa Bhadauriya village under Bidhuna Kotwali limits in Auraiya district late Saturday.According to police, the deceased, Deepu Singh alias Pushpendra, had gone to guard his standing crop when a stray bull chased him. While trying to escape, he fell into a nearby deep pond and drowned.When Singh did not return home, his family launched a search for him. During the search, his body was found in the pond.Police subsequently reached the spot and sent the body for postmortem examination.Block Pramukh Sharad Rana visited the bereaved family and assured them of all possible govt assistance.
