Bathinda: Uttar Pradesh caught up with Punjab in farm fire cases on Saturday, with both states recording 118 incidents each till Oct 10. Madhya Pradesh remained far ahead with 233 stubble-burning cases, almost double the count in Punjab.Punjab recorded nine farm fires on Saturday, against 39 in Madhya Pradesh, 10 in Uttar Pradesh and seven in Rajasthan. The 65 cases reported across states on Oct 10 took the overall count to 513.Besides Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan recorded 35 cases, Haryana seven, and Delhi and Uttarakhand one each.As per the Consortium for Research on Agroecosystem Monitoring and Modeling from Space (CREAMS), stubble burning cases have so far been reported from 83 districts, including 12 districts in Punjab. At 60, Amritsar district has reported the highest stubble burning cases so far among all the seven states.In Punjab, five FIRs have been registered u/s 223 BNS (disobedience to order duly promulgated by public servant), with three FIRs in Tarn Taran and one each in Patiala and Amritsar. Also, an environmental compensation (EC) of Rs 2.05 lakh has been imposed in 41 cases, with Rs 1.15 lakh recovered. Along with red entries in the land record in 18 cases, warning/show- cause notices have been issued to 42 nodal/supervisory officers.
