Ludhiana: A man who had gone to mediate in a dispute between two groups over land died during treatment after allegedly being pushed and assaulted. Four persons have been booked in connection with the incident. Kulwant Kaur from Dangian village and wife of the deceased, Keval Singh, said discussions were underway regarding the partition of jointly owned family land when an argument broke out between the two sides. She alleged that Mandeep Singh of Bhagike village began abusing Sukchain Singh during the discussion. Kaur said her husband intervened in an attempt to pacify the two groups. However, she alleged that Balwant Singh pushed Keval Singh to the ground during the altercation. Although he managed to get up and return home, he later complained of pain in his nose. As per the family, Keval Singh’s condition worsened after reaching home. He was taken to the civil hospital in Jagraon, from where he was referred to Ludhiana. He died during treatment. Police have booked Balwant Singh of Dangian village, Gurdayal Singh of Dhaul village, Gurmeet Singh and Mandeep Singh of Bhagike village in Moga district for culpable homicide not amounting to murder and other relevant sections.
