Rewari: An entire family of three was wiped out in a highway crash in Haryana’s Rewari district in the wee hours of Monday.Rewari resident Brijmohan (40) was returning home from Sikar in Rajasthan, with wife Anita (38) and son Nimesh (15), when their Mahindra Scorpio crashed into a truck near Dhamlawas ITI on National Highway-11 around 1.30am. They hailed from Bodia Kamalpur village in Rewar and had gone to Sikar to enrol Nimesh in a coaching institute. Brijmohan was employed with a private company, while Anita worked as a govt school teacher. Nimesh studied in Class XI.According to police, the impact was so severe that the SUV was completely mangled, leaving the occupants trapped inside. It is not yet clear whethere the SUV was speeding or the truck was parked wrongly.Rescue teams faced a daunting task as they had to use gas cutters to extricate the bodies after nearly two hours. Eyewitnesses described the scene as horrific, with debris scattered across the highway and traffic coming to a standstill for several hours.Police said the truck driver fled the spot after the accident. A manhunt has been launched to trace the driver, while investigators are examining what led to the crash.Rampura police station SHO Sanjay Kumar said the bodies were shifted to Rewari civil hospital for the postmortem and traffic on the highway was later restored.Brijmohan is survived by his elderly parents and a married sister.
