Vadodara: A pregnant woman in a remote part of Chhota Udepur district had to be carried on a cloth stretcher by family members for one kilometre after she went into labour on Tuesday. The woman, Jivli Bhil, managed to get to a hospital in time to deliver her baby.Bhil, a resident of Kunda village in Naswadi taluka, went into labour after which an ambulance was called. As her house is in a remote area without a motorable road, her family members and other villagers carried her in a cloth stretcher for over 1km, to the ambulance.Such incidents have been reported several times in various talukas of Chhota Udepur. Many villages in this tribal district are cut off in hilly terrain, with no way for vehicles to reach them.
