Motihari: Police have busted a racket involved in the making of fake Aadhaar cards for Nepalese citizens in East Champaran and arrested three people, including a customer service centre (CSP) operator and two Nepalese women.Acting on intelligence inputs on Friday, a police team raided a house in the Kundawa-Chainpur police station area and arrested CSP operator Manish Kumar and the two women. Police said they recovered 12 fake Aadhaar cards, 350 blank plastic sheets used for making Aadhaar cards, a printer, fingerprint scanner, iris scanner, laptop and other equipment.SP Swarn Prabhat said in a press release that police had received information about Aadhaar cards being made for Nepalese citizens in the area and their alleged use to obtain loans. A team was formed under a senior police officer and a raid was conducted. He said the racket also had links with Uttarakhand.According to police, the team raided a customer service centre near Gramin Bank in Kundawa-Chainpur. During the investigation, police found that the two Nepalese women had allegedly been lured with money. Police also named Gita Devi and Rakesh Kumar, residents of Uttarakhand, in connection with the case.Police said the women were introduced to CSP operator Manish Kumar through Gita Devi and Rakesh Kumar. Their passport-size photographs were allegedly sent to Rakesh, who then obtained caste certificates in their names from North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal, police said. These documents were allegedly used to obtain fake Aadhaar cards.Police said further investigation was underway to establish the extent of the alleged racket and identify others involved.chandrabhushanmotihari@gmail.com
