Patna: A Khajuraho temple-themed pandal, around 80 feet high and 55 feet wide, will be the main attraction at the Durga Puja celebrations organised by Navyuvak Sangh Shree Durga Puja Samiti Trust near Dak Bungalow crossing this year.Committee president Sanjeev Prasad Toni said the pandal is being constructed by experts from Kanthi in West Bengal and designed by Kolkata Art College artist Ritesh Chatterjee. Trust vice-president Rajan Kumar Yadav said jute bags, fibre idols, coloured stones, silk threads and Dugla leaves sourced from the India-Bangladesh border were being used to give it an authentic temple-like appearance.General secretary Dr Purushottam Mishra said 12 grand LED gates, each around 57 feet high and 35 feet wide, would be installed between Dakbunglow Crossing and Kotwali, featuring Jagannath Puri Temple, peacock, butterfly, neon, warm-white designs and a trident.Installations featuring Lord Shiva and Lord Vishwakarma seated on an elephant, Lord Ganesha playing a damru and a ghost holding a crying child will also be attractions.Treasurer Amit Kumar Barua said the idol was being crafted by Kolkata-based artist Jagannath Pal, who has made idols for the committee for 31 years. Clay and water have been brought from Varanasi, Haridwar, Rishikesh and the Hooghly river in Kolkata. Over 500 volunteers will monitor the stretch closely..
