Jutta Leerdam did not suffer any wardrobe malfunction at the Winter Olympics. The viral video spreading online does not show her. The crash in the clip actually involved another Dutch skater, Suzanne Schulting, at a different event months earlier. Despite this, several social media posts wrongly claimed that the athlete in the video was ice skater Jutta Leerdam and that the fall happened during the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. The confusion began after Leerdam won gold at the Milano Cortina 2026 Games. An X account, @nexta_tv, shared the crash video and wrote, “Speed skating went massively viral at the 2026 Winter Olympics – all thanks to Dutch athlete Jutta Leerdam.” The post quickly gained attention. But the claim is false. NU.nl reports that the viral video shows events that occurred in December 2025 during an ISU Speed Skating World Cup match in Hamar Norway. The skater in the video was Suzanne Schulting, not Jutta Leerdam. Schulting crashed during her 500 meter race after she lost control of her balance. After the race, Suzanne Schulting spoke to NU.nl. She said, “I felt good and was really looking forward to it. But it turned out to be a terrible evening.” She added, “I have not watched the footage yet, but it is possible I caught myself. Physically, I am fine; I just have a scrape on my hip. But it is obviously very frustrating.” When she fell, her skating suit tore above her hip. Speaking about that moment, she told NU.nl, “I did not notice it at first. After the race, I covered it up immediately, but as a woman, that is obviously not nice. It makes this evening even more awkward.” Despite the tear, Suzanne Schulting got up and finished the race.
Jutta Leerdam wins Olympic gold at Milano Cortina 2026 as Jake Paul reacts emotionally
While the old crash video was going viral, speed skater Jutta Leerdam was making history in Italy. The 27 year old Dutch speed skater won the women’s 1000 meter race at the Milano Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. She finished in 1:12.31 and beat fellow Dutch skater Femke Kok’s newly set Olympic record.Right after the race, Jake Paul was seen in tears in the stands. He later shared a video on Instagram where he lifted olympian Jutta Leerdam, who was wearing her olympic gold medal, and kissed her. In the caption, he wrote, “we just witnessed one of the most important sporting moments ever. the doc will tell. words cant describe how proud of you i am. @juttaleerdam.”In another post, he shared photos and wrote, “Still ugly crying over this, you’re unreal.”So to be clear, the wardrobe malfunction video does not feature Jutta Leerdam and did not happen at the Winter Olympics. It shows Suzanne Schulting at a World Cup event in Norway months earlier.
