Gaya: Magadh University acting vice-chancellor Dilip Kumar Keshari has sought explanations from the principal of AM (Anugrah Memorial) Law College, three teachers and four non-teaching staff of AM College after they were found absent during a surprise inspection on Saturday.The inspection was conducted to check attendance and academic discipline at the college. According to university officials, the principal and other staff were absent without prior information. However, AM College principal Naziz Akhtar was present in his office during the inspection.The employees told the vice-chancellor that they could not mark their attendance as the attendance register was kept inside the principal’s locked room.Keshari said, “Academic discipline and punctuality are essential for improving the quality of higher education. Negligence in teaching and official duties will not be tolerated, and action will be taken against those found violating university rules.”University finance officer Indra Kumar Singh accompanied Keshari during the inspection.Akhtar said several measures had been taken to improve the academic environment on the campus, including levelling the premises to prevent waterlogging and maintaining student records in a register at the entry gate. He said the campus had remained waterlogged for at least six months last year.
