New Delhi: Delhi University’s Hansraj College on Thursday organised a special lecture and interactive session on ‘Viksit Bharat @2047: Environmental Balance and Sustainable Development in the Light of Indian Knowledge Tradition’, aimed at placing India’s development vision within an ecological framework. The event brought together students, research scholars and faculty members to explore how the goal of a developed India by 2047 can align with environmental responsibility.

The session examined concepts of environmental balance and sustainable development through the lens of Indian knowledge traditions, encouraging students to take an active role in advancing a sustainable future. The programme saw wide participation from the academic community. Delivering the keynote address, Richa Tripathi, sustainability coordinator at Jindal Films, Europe, stressed that economic growth must advance alongside environmental protection. “Nature has traditionally been viewed not merely as a resource but as the basis of life and culture,” she said. Referring to the idea of “Prithvi Mata”, she highlighted the value of conservation over consumption and urged students to treat sustainability as a core personal ethic. She added that modern technology, combined with principles such as balanced use and recycling, can strengthen sustainable development pathways.
