Patna: With Bihar battling floods and growing water stress, experts on Tuesday called for aggressive river-linking and scientific silt management to turn surplus floodwater into an irrigation and groundwater resource.Speaking at a national webinar organised by the G P Sinha Centre for Disaster Management and Rural Development, former engineer-in-chief Rabindra Shanker highlighted the Bagmati-Budhi Gandak link project, which diverts excess Bagmati water during floods. He said Bihar was pursuing at least seven river-linking projects under the Himalayan component.Experts also stressed climate-sensitive planning and comprehensive water management to address Bihar’s recurring floods and future water needs.
