Patna: Union food processing industries minister and LJP(RV) president Chirag Paswan has received a death threat, prompting his office to seek an immediate investigation and review of his security arrangements, LJP(RV) state media in-charge Nishant Mishra said on Tuesday.An unsigned communication received by the ministry allegedly threatened Chirag’s life and cited two mobile phone numbers. It said the Union minister would soon be killed by “hardcore terrorists”.Alok Kumar Singh, additional private secretary to the ministry of food processing industries, wrote to the Union home secretary on Tuesday, seeking a thorough investigation into the threat.The letter sought verification of the source and authenticity of the communication and appropriate legal action against those responsible. It also requested a review and strengthening of Chirag’s security, if required, in view of the threat and his upcoming public engagements.Mishra said the LJP(RV) considered the matter extremely serious and demanded swift action. Chirag currently has Z-category security provided by the Union ministry of home affairs.
