Patna: Early diagnosis, timely treatment and preventive measures can help manage spinal disorders, spine surgeon Dr Gautam R Prasad said at a seminar here on World Spine Day on Sunday.The seminar focused on raising awareness about spinal health, early detection and modern treatment methods. Patients who recovered after treatment and regained the ability to walk were honoured with the ‘Spine Ambassador’ award.Dr Prasad said surgery was required only in select cases. “Spinal problems can be overcome by staying alert in the initial stages,” he said, adding that timely surgery at the appropriate place could help patients recover from spinal ailments.Chief guest on this occasion, Dr N K Singh, former head of the department of orthopaedics at NMCH, Patna, dwelt on advancements in spinal care and the role of modern technology in treating spinal disorders. He also appreciated Dr Prasad’s work in the field.A patient shared his experience of overcoming the fear of spine surgery and recovering from prolonged pain and suffering after undergoing the procedure.
