Madhubani: A meeting to discuss the proposed expansion of urban local bodies (ULBs) across Madhubani district was held at the Circuit House on Monday under the chairmanship of district in charge and building construction department minister Leshi Singh.Officials and public representatives deliberated on the proposed areas for expansion, administrative procedures and the developmental implications of bringing more areas under urban local bodies.Those present included district magistrate Anand Sharma, sub-divisional officers of all five subdivisions, Madhubani Municipal Corporation mayor Arun Rai, public representatives and senior officials from various departments. Participants shared suggestions and inputs related to their respective areas.Seeking details of the proposals, Singh said expansion of urban local bodies was essential for planned urban development and for extending civic amenities to a larger population. She directed officials to examine all aspects and proceed in accordance with prescribed rules.The meeting also reviewed plans for improving roads, drainage, drinking water supply, sanitation and street lighting in areas likely to be brought under urban local bodies. Officials discussed administrative arrangements and future development requirements in the proposed areas.Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Singh said discussions had been held on urban local body expansion in different subdivisions of the district. She reiterated that planned urban development remained a priority for the govt and that all procedures would be completed as per rules.She also urged officials and public representatives to work in coordination and keep public interest at the forefront during the expansion process.
