B- town’s long standing feud between actors Taapsee Pannu and Kangana Ranaut reignited over the weekend. At India Today Women’s Summit, Taapsee addressed the long-standing issue. She stated that she holds no malice, has never met Kangana face-to-face, and that their vastly different worldviews simply reflect their unique upbringings.

She had said, “My opinion on her is reflective of my upbringing and my way of talking, my way of perceiving things and hers… she stands by hers. So, I think that’s enough for everybody to look and decide who comes from where.”

Kangana interpreted the comment as a personal attack on her family and background. She posted a fiery multi-part Instagram story attacking Taapsee’s background, calling her a “cheap sasti copy” yet again, and heavily critiquing Taapsee’s upcoming film. Kangana deleted her explosive stories shortly after posting them. Taapsee quickly shared a brief, cryptic post reading “Hence, proved” on her social media, widely understood by fans to be a concluding mic-drop response.

Taapsee when contacted told HTCity, “I’ve always maintained I don’t get offended by these sasti copy remarks. I’ve always said I’m happy she thinks I’m a copy, and that she’s a phenomenal actress and I’m not. I dont come from a rich background or have the highest paid actor tags, maybe I’m sasti that way. What I said was, ‘how one speaks is reflective of one’s upbringing.’ It’s upto to that person to assume whether I said something bad about the upbringing or something good. If you believe I am demeaning your upbringing, it means you believe you made demeaning comments. I did not say that! But then, I also think one needs proper education and upbringing to understand what I said.”
