Patna: National president of the Ex-Servicemen Association Col (retd) Dev Anand Lohamaror on Tuesday urged the Bihar govt to introduce welfare measures for ex-servicemen and war widows on the lines of Rajasthan to ensure their social and financial security.Talking to reporters here, Lohamaror demanded the establishment of a dedicated Sainik Commission in Bihar to address the grievances of serving and retired defence personnel, ex-servicemen and Veer Naris (war widows). He said the state govt should put in place a time-bound mechanism to resolve their grievances on priority.Emphasising the need to protect the rights of war widows, he called for a clear policy to ensure they receive the benefits and assistance they are entitled to. He also sought legal safeguards for their interests and compassionate employment for eligible family members of deceased defence personnel.Lohamaror said ex-servicemen and their families had made significant sacrifices in the service of the nation and deserved recognition, respect and support from the state govt. He said a dedicated commission would provide an institutional platform to address their complaints and improve coordination among the departments concerned. He also called for a comprehensive welfare framework covering serving personnel, retired soldiers and bereaved families to ensure their grievances are resolved without unnecessary delays.“Effective implementation of welfare policies and clear legal safeguards are essential to ensure that ex-servicemen and war widows get the dignity, security and assistance they deserve,” he said.
