MOHALI: The Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) on Friday arrested dismissed AIG Rajjit Singh Hundal from the court premises in connection with a fresh NDPS case and secured his four-day police remand from a special court in Mohali.The investigating agency had sought seven days’ custody, alleging that Hundal had aided then-inspector Inderjit Singh in connection with FIR of 2017.Rs 5 lakh bribe not recovered, Rajjit Hundal in judicial custody: Hundal was produced before the court after his three-day police remand in the police-drug nexus case ended.The ANTF failed to recover the alleged Rs 5 lakh bribe, following which the court sent him to judicial custody.Immediately thereafter, the ANTF arrested him in the fresh case and sought his custody for further investigation.The fresh case relates to Hundal’s alleged role in assisting Inderjit Singh, against whom STF FIR No 1 was registered on June 12, 2017, at the Special Task Force police station, Mohali.The FIR was registered under Sections 21, 22 and 59(2)(b) of the NDPS Act and Sections 218, 466, 471 and 120-B of the IPC.According to records before the Punjab and Haryana high court, the investigation into Inderjit Singh had brought forth allegations of collusion with drug traffickers, facilitating drug trafficking, implicating people in false drug cases and extortion.The investigation also examined alleged misuse of the investigative process in cases involving seizures of large quantities of narcotics.
