A team of lawyers led by Richardson Wilson, representing former Tamil Nadu minister E.V. Velu, on Thursday appeared before the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) office in Alandur and sought additional time for his appearance in connection with an inquiry initiated on a complaint against him.

Chennai: A team of lawyers representing former DMK minister E V Velu appeared before the Directorate of Vigilance and Anti-Corruption (DVAC) officials in Alandur on Thursday and sought additional time for his appearance in connection with an inquiry initiated on a complaint against him. They said the ex-minister is unwell and that he has been admitted in an hospital in Singapore.DVAC had earlier issued a summons directing Velu to appear before investigating officers following a series of raids at 14 premises linked to Velu, including his office and residence, on June 25. The summons was issued on June 30.On Friday, his legal team informed the DVAC officials that the former minister was unwell and that he was undergoing treatment. Sources said DVAC officials acknowledged the request and informed them that it would be considered. The officials said they would communicate a fresh date for Velu’s appearance after examining the petition.
