Udupi: Former minister Ramanath Rai and his personal assistant (PA) sustained injuries after the SUV car in which he was travelling was involved in an accident with a private bus at Sanur village under Karkala Town police station limits on Sunday.Superintendent of police Hariram Shankar said that the accident occurred around 3.30pm on the Karkala-Moodubidire route. Rai was travelling in the SUV along with his PA, Denzel, who sustained a fracture to his right leg.They were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. After preliminary treatment, he and others requiring further care are expected to be shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru. No fatal injuries have been reported.Rai’s driver, gunman and two personal assistants were also in the vehicle. ASP Ishita is supervising the case.
