Rourkela: A former employee of a private hospital, who has alleged sexual harassment against the healthcare institute’s director, on Monday moved the chief minister’s grievance cell over perceived delay in action against her alleged perpetrator. The woman, a 41-year-old junior executive, had accused the director of soliciting sexual favours and retaliating with verbal abuse and inappropriate behaviour when she refused. The complaint, initially filed on July 5, also detailed an incident where the director allegedly confronted her at a dental centre, forcibly took her mobile phone, and verbally abused her. Following these events, the woman received a show-cause notice for alleged negligence, prompting her resignation. A formal complaint was lodged at a police station, leading to an investigation.Despite the hospital’s chairman, who is also the director’s brother, dismissing the allegations, police have been actively investigating the case. Officers have reviewed CCTV footage and interviewed staff members as part of their inquiry. The complainant’s statement was recorded before a magistrate last week.On July 17, the case was transferred to Mahila police station for further investigation. Frustrated by the perceived delay, the woman, accompanied by her son, went to Bhubaneswar to meet officials at the chief minister’s grievance cell. Her representation was registered and forwarded to the secretary of the home department for action.Brijesh Kumar Rai, DIG (Western Range), confirmed on Tuesday that investigation is ongoing and will be completed promptly. “Based on the complaint of the woman, the detailed investigation into this case is going on and it will be completed before the mandatory period, and action will be taken accordingly,” Rai said.
