Bishunpur (Gumla): Ex-army personnel will be trained in farming through Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), minister of state (MOS) for defence Sanjay Seth announced while addressing a farmers mela organised by KVK Gumla at the aegis of Indian Mustard Research Institute (ST-Part) in Bishunpur, some 50 km from the district headquarters of Gumla, on Tuesday.Seth asked Padmashree recipient Ashok Bhagat, the patron of Gumla KVK and secretary of NGO Vikas Bharti, to submit name of trades for ex-armymen’s residential training in farm works and allied activities and strength of batches, stating, “I will discuss the arrangements for the same at the Union level.”Laying stress upon massive coarse grains cultivation, especially by small farmers, Seth said, “Farming of finger millet and other local coarse grains can help enrich them.”“On March 13, a total of 9,32,00,000 farmers received 22 instalments under the PM Kisan Samman Yojna and in Jharkhand the number of such beneficiaries is 1,86,33,39,” he said.Seth also spoke about PM Narendra Modi’s special focus on upliftment of farmers and women initiatives to promote empowerment
