Guwahati:Former Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi (Retd), will be the chief guest at a mass event marking 150 years of the national song Vande Mataram, “Namami Bharatam,” on September 25 at the Shrimanta Sankardev International Auditorium at Kalakshetra here.Organised by Vidya Bharati and Shiksha Samiti Assam, the event aims to set records for mass recitation of the national song Vande Mataram and regional mobilisation.Media coordinator of Vidya Bharati Northeast and Assam, Shailendra Pandey said General Dwivedi’s maiden northeast engagement has generated significant political and civic interest across the region.The event forms part of a broader, year-long nationwide commemoration of Vande Mataram’s 150th anniversary, which has included similar mass participation programmes across multiple states through 2026.
