Jaipur: Deputy Chief Minister Diya Kumari hailed the women’s reservation bill as a “historic step” during the state-level “Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan” at Birla Auditorium Wednesday. The transformative legislation aims to reserve 33% of seats in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies for women. “Every third voice in the Houses will now be that of women,” she emphasised, highlighting inclusion of women’s perspectives in policymaking.Kumari referred to the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam’ as a constitutional change capable of reshaping the future of India. “This law will not only change politics, but also transform social thinking, where daughters will be seen as a matter of pride rather than a burden,” she said, articulating her vision for a society that celebrates female empowerment.The event aimed to raise awareness about women’s reservation and foster a culture of women’s empowerment across the state. Kumari expressed optimism that girls currently enrolled in educational institutions would one day assume roles as MLAs and MPs, thereby leading the nation.Highlighting the societal shift needed, she remarked, “Future India will celebrate the birth of daughters with pride,” emphasising that this evolution should begin within families through education, awareness and trust in girls. She urged women to take advantage of the newly opened leadership pathways in govt.Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma echoed Kumari’s sentiments, labelling the Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam a historic initiative that will enhance women’s political participation. He underscored the bill’s alignment with Prime Minister Modi’s vision of a “Viksit Bharat” and encouraged women to demonstrate their support by giving a missed call on a designated number.During the event, the CM also signed a Signature Wall backing the law and engaged with students, citing the growing influence of women politicians like Nirmala Sitharaman at the Centre and Diya Kumari in Rajasthan’s finance department.
