Mysuru: Punyakoti Seva Trust, in collaboration with Mandya residents living in Mysuru and the Mysuru District Citizens Forum, will organise the popular ‘Avarekalu Mudde Oota’ event at Yoganarasimhaswamy Temple in Vijayanagar on July 26.The event aims to create awareness among the younger generation about the nutritional benefits of traditional foods like ‘avarekalu’ and ‘mudde,’ which is rich in protein, calcium, and vitamins.Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Hanumanthesh, president of Punyakoti Seva Trust, said, “This is the third edition of the event. In the first year, around 5,000 people participated, and last year, over 8,000 people attended. This year, we are expecting more than 10,000 participants. The focus is to educate today’s youth on the importance of including traditional, healthy foods in their diets.”He also emphasised the issue of food wastage at various social functions. “At many events, people pile their plates with four to five varieties of curries and sweets, much of which goes to waste. We want to encourage people to adopt simpler, nutritious meals like ‘Avarekalu Mudde Oota,’ which promote good health without wastage,” Hanumanthesh said.MLAs GT Devegowda, K Harishgowda, and Ramesh Bandisiddegowda will attend the event.
