Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW), Kashmir, of the Crime Branch, Jammu and Kashmir, has filed a chargesheet before the Court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Srinagar, against three accused persons allegedly involved in a fake government job racket.
The chargesheet has been filed in FIR No. 01/2026 under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471 and 120-B of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC). The accused named in the case are Ghulam Mohd Sheikh alias Gulzar, son of Abdul Aziz Sheikh, resident of Palpora, Pamposh Colony, Noor Bagh, Srinagar; Mohd Yousuf Wani, son of Abdul Ahad Wani, resident of Kunzer, Baramulla; and Mohd Abdullah Mir, son of Abdul Gaffar Mir, resident of Shivath, Tehsil Sumbal, Sonawari, Bandipora.
According to the Crime Branch, the case was registered on the basis of a written complaint alleging that prime accused Ghulam Mohd Sheikh alias Gulzar had fraudulently taken Rs 23 lakh from complainants on the pretext of securing government jobs for them.
The investigation revealed that the accused allegedly used forged appointment orders, identity cards, licences, appointment letters and fabricated Police and CID verification documents to make the fake recruitment process appear genuine.
The EOW stated that during the course of investigation, the allegations were substantiated and evidence was collected establishing that the accused persons allegedly acted in conspiracy with each other to deceive the complainants and dishonestly misappropriate their money.
After completion of the investigation and collection of relevant evidence, the chargesheet was presented before the competent court for further judicial proceedings.
The Economic Offences Wing has advised the public to remain cautious against fraudulent job offers and economic scams.
