Hyderabad: Chief minister A Revanth Reddy has emphasised the importance of timely delivery of essential materials for students, stating that providing uniforms, notebooks and other supplies on schedule will help students concentrate better on their studies.During a review on Thursday evening, he assessed the centralised procurement of supplies aimed at educational institutions under various departments, including education, BC, minority, tribal welfare and SC development. To streamline the distribution process, Revanth Reddy proposed appointing a nodal officer at the mandal level to oversee the distribution of materials. He directed that detailed measures be taken to ensure that supplies make their way to schools and hostels in villages and suggested capturing photos and videos of the distribution for accountability.Previously, the lack of a unified system led to inconsistencies and irregularities, with each department managing its own procurement. To address these issues, the CM announced implementation of a centralised procurement system, which has been designed to enhance accountability. He stated that any irregularities in the supply of uniforms, notebooks and trunks would not be tolerated, reiterating that govt’s goal was to benefit students rather than suppliers. He instructed officials to ensure that all materials provided to students, including notebooks, trunks, plates, glasses, tracksuits, bed sheets, school bags, ID cards and uniforms, were of high quality. He stressed the dual importance of timely delivery and quality assurance, stating that all necessary materials must reach students by June 15, with payments to suppliers processed only upon confirmed delivery. The CM ordered a comprehensive check to guarantee that every student receives the requisite materials. Additionally, he recommended gathering feedback from students regarding the quality of notebooks, uniforms and other supplies after their distribution. To facilitate better coordination among the SC, ST, BC, minority and education departments, Revanth Reddy also called for the establishment of a dedicated committee.
