Prayagraj: Chairperson of the National Commission for Backward Classes (NCBC) Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti, on Friday, held a review meeting at the Circuit House to address issues concerning the backward classes and their welfare. During the meeting, Jyoti took cognizance of a complaint regarding alleged medical negligence in the treatment of Kesan — a patient injured in an accident in Kaushambi and currently admitted to Swaroop Rani Hospital — as well as the failure to provide ambulance services to patients who recovered. She directed Dr V K Pandey, principal of Motilal Nehru Medical College, to conduct an inquiry into the matter and submit a report.The chairperson emphasised the need to ensure proper medical treatment for all patients admitted to the hospital. She said that no medicines should be prescribed from outside sources and that patients must be treated with courtesy and respect. During the review meeting, the chairperson directed that any matter referred by the Commission to the concerned officials must be resolved within the stipulated timeframe.Moreover, she issued a set of instructions ensuring that all complaints or applications received from members of the backward classes are promptly addressed and resolved by the relevant officials. She also requested a category-wise list detailing the number of doctors, paramedical staff and sanitation workers currently posted at Swaroop Rani Hospital. She asserted that 100% compliance with reservation norms regarding appointments must be strictly ensured.The Chairperson also instructed officials from the concerned departments to ensure that no applicant faces any difficulties in obtaining a caste certificate. She mandated that such certificates must be issued within the prescribed time limit.
