Kanpur: Swift and quality investigations be ensured against criminals identified under the Gangsters Act and chargesheets be submitted to courts in a time-bound manner, said police commissioner Raghubir Lal during a review meeting held on Wednesday.He further directed that the process of identification and seizure of properties of the accused be effectively implemented, that wanted accused be arrested at the earliest, and that surveillance and verification activities be carried out on a priority basis.Special emphasis was laid on continuous coordination between the police and prosecution to ensure speedy disposal of pending cases, improve the quality of prosecution and ensure maximum convictions through effective advocacy in courts.Officials discussed the progress of cases registered under the Gangsters Act, review of cases pending in courts, and steps to ensure effective prosecution against the accused. Strategies were deliberated to strengthen evidence and increase the conviction rate.Additional police commissioner (Law and Order) Vipin Tada, additional police commissioner (Headquarters/Crime) Sankalp Sharma, deputy commissioners of Police East, West, South, Central, Crime, Joints and Headquarters, additional deputy commissioners of police crime and central, and other senior officers attended the meeting. Senior prosecution officer Pawan Mishra, other prosecution officers, assistant police commissioners and SHOs of the concerned police stations were also present.The commissioner directed officers to make proceedings under the Gangsters Act more effective, transparent and result-oriented .
