Nagpur: With thousands of followers expected to converge at Deekshabhoomi for Dhamma Chakra Pravartan Din, civic authorities have set Oct 14 as the deadline to put all essential facilities in place, from toilets and sanitation to security and parking arrangements.Municipal commissioner Vipin Itankar and district collector Kumar Ashirwad jointly inspected Deekshabhoomi on Thursday to take stock of preparations for the annual event. They were accompanied by office-bearers of the Pujya Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Memorial Committee.During the inspection, the municipal commissioner directed officials to ensure that all civic arrangements are in place before the deadline and remain fully functional during the event. He specifically laid stress on ensuring adequate sanitation, toilets, security and other basic facilities for visitors.The officials inspected the main ceremony venue, the area behind the Dr Ambedkar Institute of Management Studies and Research where temporary toilets are proposed, and toilet facilities planned near the parking area adjoining Social Justice Bhavan and Govt Industrial Training Institute.They also reviewed arrangements near Ambazari Lake and other locations around Deekshabhoomi, including ground levelling, cleanliness and sanitation.Itankar directed officials to ensure that the security wall being constructed around the Deekshabhoomi premises is sturdy and properly erected. He also directed completion of all arrangements in the vicinity of the jail premises by Oct 14.Collector Ashirwad asked officials from all departments to maintain close coordination and complete the planned arrangements within the stipulated deadline.
