Mangaluru: A student team from the department of mechanical engineering at Mangalore Institute of Technology and Engineering (MITE), Moodubidre, has earned national recognition at the e-Yantra Innovation Challenge 2025-26 organised by IIT Bombay.The team won the ‘Entrepreneurial Potential and Best Business Pitch Award’ for its project, ‘Multi-Crops Dehusker.’ The recognition carries a cash prize and an exclusive eight-week pre-incubation opportunity for the team leader at e-Yantra, IIT Bombay, offering a significant boost to the startup potential of the project.Sponsored by the ministry of education, govt of India, the e-Yantra Innovation Challenge promotes hands-on, project-based learning and domain-focused training. The initiative is designed to encourage innovation, entrepreneurship and startup development among engineering students by helping them convert ideas into practical solutions.This year’s competition drew 323 teams from across the country. Of these, only 16 teams were shortlisted for the grand finale held at IIT Bombay. The MITE team secured a place among the finalists, and presented its innovation on the national stage.The ‘Multi-Crops Dehusker’ was developed by students Manoj Kumar BV, Deekshith K Gowda, Pradhyumna Murthy and Swasthik under the mentorship of Shivaramu HT and Yuvaraj KB.Institution chairman Rajesh Chowta said recognition at a prestigious platform such as e-Yantra reflects the institution’s commitment to fostering creative thinking and problem-solving skills among students. He added that the achievement strengthens the institute’s focus on building an ecosystem that supports innovation, startups and impactful engineering solutions.
