Ghaziabad: A CNG bus bearing the name of Delhi Public School, Ghaziabad, caught fire near the Nandgram intersection on Meerut Road on Saturday morning, triggering panic among commuters. Fire department officers said no children or passengers were inside the vehicle at the time of the incident, and no injuries were reported.Chief fire officer Rahul Pal said the cause of the fire has not been determined yet.The officer said the fire broke out around 9.26am. When firemen reached the spot, they found the bus engulfed in flames and thick smoke billowing from it. The school administration said the vehicle had been hired through a transport contractor around three years ago. However, the contract ended two years ago after a new contractor was appointed.“This bus has not been associated with DPS Ghaziabad for the past two years and does not operate on any of our routes. None of our students were travelling in it at the time of the incident. Despite repeated instructions to the previous contractor, the school’s name and logo were not removed from the vehicle. Moreover, the school was also closed on Saturday,” a school spokesperson said.He added that the school had lodged a complaint over the unauthorised use of the school’s name and branding.
