Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff opened the company’s marque AI conference Dreamforce 2025 hailing the “agentic enterprise”. During the three-day event, Benioff spoke about a range of things with the key theme being the advent of the age of “agentic enterprise”, with AI playing a larger role than ever before for companies of all sizes. During the event, Benioff also reportedly spoke about how OpenAI’s AI chatbot ChatGPT did not allow him to edit a photo of CEO Sam Altman, making him use Grok, the AI tool of Elon Musk‘s xAI. Popular X users DogeDesigner recently shared a video from the Dreamforce 2025 event on social media platform. The video clip is an interview of Salesforce CEO Benioff from the event where he is seen saying that he turned to Grok to generate a viral image of himself alongside an AI-rendered Sam Altman, as ChatGPT rejected the request citing copyright risks from editing conference badges. The photo edit reportedly involved removing branded necklaces. Elon Musk replied to the post saying: Haha cool. Elon Musk’s two-word reply to DogeDesigner’s post has so far received 3,000-plus replies and 90,000-plus likes. What made his comments important is also hat so far Benioff has been ChatGPT’s most vocal supporter. The same month (October 2025) Salesforce announced an expanded partnership with OpenAI, integrating its Agentforce 360 platform with ChatGPT and allowing enterprises to use OpenAI’s GPT-5 models within Salesforce products. At the time, Benioff praised that collaboration. “As consumers, we already get instant recommendations or insights from ChatGPT.” “Now enterprises can deliver that same intelligence and immediacy,” he further said.

Marc Benioff’s public announcement that he is ‘dumping’ ChatGPT for Google’s Gemini 3

In November 2025, Salesforce CEO publicly announced that he is abandoning OpenAI’schatbot after a brief trial of Google’s newly released Gemini 3 model. “Holy s—. I’ve used ChatGPT every day for 3 years. Just spent 2 hours on Gemini 3. I’m not going back,” Benioff wrote on X. “The leap is insane — reasoning, speed, images, video… everything is sharper and faster. It feels like the world just changed, again.”

When Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff apologised at Dreamforce 2025

Incidentally, Dreamforce 2025 is also the event where the Salesforce CEO apologised for his statements where he said that President Donald Trump should make good on his threats to send the US national guard into San Francisco, despite resistance from local leaders. Benioff later said sorry, claiming he had “listened closely to my fellow San Franciscans and our local officials … I do not believe the national guard is needed to address safety in San Francisco.” He added that Dreamforce’s security had been the main motivator for his statement.
