Recently, director Alex Gibney, who had been working on creating a documentary on Elon Musk for years, officially released the first look at the non-fiction film. Following the release of the first trailer, Elon Musk was quick to share his response and strongly oppose the making of the documentary, which reportedly also includes testimonies and interviews from his ex-wife Justine Wilson, former partner Ashley St Clair, father, and colleagues.

PEOPLE reported that Elon Musk is strongly opposing the release of Alex Gibney’s four-hour-long documentary on the businessman. He recently gained traction after the film had its official premiere at the 83rd Venice Film Festival. According to the report, Musk’s attorney Alex Spiro sent a letter to the director about how his team had tried to contact him about the film on multiple occasions. However, Gibney simply refused to have any form of discussion about the matter. The attorney also alleged that the director made the documentary with a set agenda and ‘conclusion’ in mind. He also added, “This project did not begin as an inquiry. It began with a conclusion.”The trillionaire’s legal team is threatening legal action against Gibney for portraying false situations, including falsely accusing him of manipulating election results, among other things. Gibney’s documentary recently premiered at the Venice Film Festival and included multiple interviews with people close to Musk. One of the notable interviews from the film came from Ashley St Clair, Musk’s former partner and influencer. She mainly claimed that during the 2024 elections, Musk had a “degree of certainty” that President Donald Trump would win. This is one of the main issues that Musk’s attorney highlighted in the letter, adding, “Defamation does not require an express accusation.” He listed how defamation can happen through “juxtaposition, sequencing, narration, scoring, or the omission of known exculpatory facts.”He concluded the letter by adding that it is a notice for Gibney, along with everyone else who is involved in making the movie as well as distributing it. “Our door is open if you decide to check your facts with the people who know them. If not, we will proceed accordingly,” he added.

The news comes after Musk publicly called the film out on his social media accounts while replying to other people. In an X (formerly known as Twitter) post, Musk wrote, “Dogshit is worth more respect.” He had been replying to a video of Gibney at a press conference talking about his four-hour-long documentary, ‘Musk.’On another post, he replied, saying that Gibney “just assembled a hit list of people who either have an axe to grind or don’t even know me (but still have an axe to grind). He has ZERO integrity. Horrible human.”
