Madikeri: A woman labourer was seriously injured in a wild elephant attack in broad daylight at Bajekolli near Siddapur on Thursday. Aisha, 58, a resident of Paisari, was walking home after finishing work at a coffee plantation near Bajekolli at around 3.30pm when a wild elephant suddenly emerged from a nearby plantation and attacked her.She sustained injuries to her face, chest and hand but survived the attack, officials said.On hearing her screams, locals rushed to her aid, forcing the elephant to retreat into the plantation. They shifted her to Siddapur Community Health Centre in a car, where she was given first aid. She was later referred to the district hospital in Madikeri for further treatment.
