Bhubaneswar: The cyber police in Bhubaneswar arrested an electrician on Sunday for allegedly defaming Prime Minister Narendra Modi and CM Mohan Charan Majhi by posting obscene AI‑generated reels on social media.The accused was identified as Biswajit Sahu, 22, of Jagatpur in Cuttack. Police said they registered the case suo motu on Saturday after detecting the objectionable content during routine monitoring.“We found multiple reels uploaded from a social media handle created by the accused. He manipulated photos and videos of the PM and CM, adding abusive content,” said ACP Suchismita Das of the cyber police station.Police cautioned that similar action would be taken against others attempting to gain traction through such distasteful posts. On Friday, the BJP had lodged a complaint against a vlogger for allegedly posting defamatory content against the CM.Advising restraint on digital platforms, ACP Das said, “Creation or circulation of AI‑generated, morphed, obscene or defamatory content can invite penal consequences. We urge citizens to verify information before sharing and to refrain from producing or forwarding unlawful material. Any objectionable online activity may be reported at the nearest police station or through the national cyber crime reporting portal.”
