Mandya: An elderly woman, Sakamma, 75, a resident of Rangegowdanakoppalu village in KR Pet taluk, succumbed to injuries on Wednesday night at Mysore District Hospital, after a stray dog brutally attacked her while she was engaged in agricultural work in her farmland.The incident occurred around 15 days ago when a stray dog suddenly attacked her, inflicting severe injuries on her face and neck. Following the attack, family members, with the help of locals, rushed her to the taluk hospital for emergency treatment, before she was shifted to Mysore district hospital for advanced care. Despite continuous treatment for over two weeks, her condition deteriorated, and she passed away on Wednesday night, hospital sources said.After a post-mortem examination at the taluk hospital, the body was handed over to the family for final rites. Villagers have also demanded timely medical response facilities and preventive vaccination drives to avoid such tragic incidents in future, especially protecting vulnerable elderly farmers working alone in fields.
