Chandigarh: An 82-year-old man was robbed of Rs 2,000 by an unidentified snatcher while buying vegetables outside his house in Sector 38 Tuesday. The accused fled before he could be caught.According to the complainant, Surinder Singh, a resident of Sector 38, he was purchasing vegetables from a roadside cart when a man approached from behind and allegedly snatched cash from his pocket before running away.The victim raised an alarm and passersby tried to chase the snatcher, but he managed to escape. Police were informed through the 112 helpline.Sector 39 police reached the spot, recorded the complainant’s statement and launched a probe. CCTV footage from the area is being examined to identify the accused.
