Bengaluru: An elderly couple died by suicide at their Shivanalli residence in Manjunathanagar, Basaveshwaranagar, Wednesday as they were reportedly worried over health and financial issues.The deceased are 77-year-old Eeshwar Achari and wife, Gauri Achari, 66. The double suicide came to light Thursday morning when one of their daughters reached their residence after the couple did not respond to phone calls. The door was broken open with the help of neighbours and the senior citizens were found dead.Police recovered a poison-laced soft drink bottle by their side. There was no death note.The couple’s daughters, Roopa S and Deepa A, told police their mother suffered from hip dislocation, diabetes and asthma. “According to family sources, Eeshwar worked as a goldsmith till 2020. Then, owing to age-related problems, he stopped working. The couple lived in a rented house for the last five years.
