Kolkata: The first woman president of the Eastern India Motion Pictures Association got entangled in a dispute after allegations and counter-allegations reached the police station. Actor-producer Piyaa Ssengupta, who became the EIMPA president on Dec 11, 2018, went to the Bowbazar Police Station and lodged a complaint against some members of the association.“I never imagined I would face physical, mental and sexual harassment. I was accused of being a Trinamool member and of being close to Aroop and Swarup Biswas. But I have photos of interim president Ratan Saha, standing next to Aroop Biswas with green abir on his forehead. Despite stomach ache, I went to the police station to lodge a complaint,” she said.Producer-distributor-exhibitor Satadeep Saha denied the charge levelled by Ssengupta. “First, we were accused of being BJP supporters, now she is accusing us of being Trinamool. She needs to say what she wants. I wish she had left her post after most members backed the no-confidence motion I moved. But she wants to hold on to the chair. She is playing the victim card. This is harming the film industry image,” he said.Director-producer Milon Bhowmik said they had informed the Bowbazar PS about the move even before Ssengupta lodged her complaint. “She has hurt many members of our executive committee. She pushed ex-president Krishna Daga. He is a dialysis patient and Piyaa hurt him. We have photos of her trying to remove Satadeep while grabbing him by the collar,” Bhowmik said.
