Poonch, Sep 06: Eight people were injured after a Tata Sumo bearing registration number JK12 6075 met with a road accident in the Dunugam area of Mandi tehsil in Poonch district on Sunday.
According to reports, the vehicle went off the road and fell considerably below the road near the bank of a river. Following the accident, local residents launched a rescue operation and shifted all the injured to Sub-District Hospital Mandi, where they were provided first aid.
The injured were later referred to District Hospital Poonch for further treatment. At the hospital, two of the injured were subsequently referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Rajouri for specialised treatment, while the remaining six are undergoing treatment at District Hospital Poonch.
The injured have been identified as Imtiaz Ahmed (18), Abdul Hamid (25), Mohammad Asif (17), Mohammad Shadi (23), Zahid Hussain (17), Habib Dar (80), Sheraz Ahmed (19), and Ikhlaq Ahmed (17).
Police personnel also reached the spot and assisted in the rescue operation.
